With its short length, you will most likely get tired of this game awfully quickly. It is a pity this game wasn't designed with many more (and much harder) levels - because it would have saved it from being below par. The graphics, while nothing like the original, are still quite decent and the explosive sound effects only enhances the frantic game play. It was published by Namco in Japan and imported to North America by Midway that December.
Unfortunately the amount of levels in this game is quite small, which means it will not take long to finish (I managed to finish it on my first try, within the ten minute mark). Galaxian (, Gyarakushian) is an arcade game that was developed by Namco and released in October 1979. There are power-ups, shields and bombs to collect to help spice things up a bit. Oddly enough, the game play is one of its best strengths. The game play, in short, is fast and furious - which is a complete contrast to the slow and steady original. The graphics don't even remotely resemble the arcade game, none of the enemies fly down the screen and there are no bonus levels.Īs soon as you execute the executable file, you are thrown straight into the action and before you know it hundreds upon hundreds of enemy bullets are flying towards you. Aside from the fact that you control a space ship and shoot enemies, this game contains little or no resemblance to the original. Apparently, according to its name, this is a Galaxian clone.
